The local nice-guy, policeman caught between two…then three women! Handsome detective inspector Gil Cameron is a troubled man whose sense of failure over the unsolved murder of a local girl – Katie Watson – haunts him. A man of high moral integrity, Gil is generally respected by the locals, has a deep hatred of any injustice and trusts his own judgement of character above everything else. Katie’s murder eats away at him, and he is determined to do right by her and track down her murderer.
Gil is engaged to the village ‘sweetheart’ Ann Marie, but theirs is not a perfect relationship. She seduced him when he was feeling lonely and, in spite of now being possessive to a tee – Ann Marie had her own secret affair with local bad boy Euan Harries. Now Ann Marie's pregnant and Gil, naturally assuming he's the father, has done the honourable thing and proposed. Deep down he knows he doesn't really love Ann Marie but he pushes his doubts aside - relishing, instead, the thought of becoming a dad. Then Ellie and Hannah walk into his life and knock Gil sideways…
